Tour Information
We will come and pick you up from your hotel just after breakfast at around 8am. We will also drop you back to your hotel or any other destination in Siem Reap town after the tour has finished.
Tour Itinerary
This tour will start with a visit to Phnom Kulen (Kulen Mountain). Phnom Kulen is about 50km from Siem Reap. Kulen means “Lychees” in English and means “Mountain of the Lychees”. The mountain forms part of a protected national park. At its height, the Kulen Mountain Range is 487m above sea level. Kulen mountain is mostly formed of red sandstone and was mined during the Khmer Empire to build temples in the area.
Phnom Kulen is a sacred place for most Khmer as well as Buddhist and Hindus from other countries. People sometimes make pilgrimages to the mountain. At the top, there is a beautiful waterfall located right in the middle of the jungle. Here, you can take swim, relax and eat lunch.
We will then go to visit Beng Mealea temple which was built as a Hindu temple. Beng Mealea was built from sandstone and has been left to succumb to the jungle. Beng Mealea is a relatively quiet temple when compared to Angkor Wat and you can walk around in peace and quiet during your time here.
This is a popular tour with visitors because both Phnom Kulen and Beng Mealea were important to the ancient Khmer people.
